SMALL DETAILS MAKE A DIFFERENCE…
Back Bay West referral home cleaners adhere to the highest quality cleaning standards.
That alone makes a huge difference.
Boston has many officially known neighborhoods. One of those is Back Bay, and it is split into Back Bay West and Back Bay East. The east-west streets are lined with gorgeous Victorian homes offset by commercial shopping districts, skyscrapers, and subway stations. Now, Back Bay West is an often-visited destination within Boston. There are plenty of attractions, green spaces, restaurants, and more to see on the western side of the famous Back Bay neighborhood.
Here is everything you need to know about Back Bay West to make your visit spectacular:
Back Bay West is less populated than Back Bay East because it is smaller in size. However, the atmosphere remains very much the same. You have rowhouses occupied by more affluent individuals with a median age of 36. Around 18,000 people are residing within the whole of Back Bay, and so one can assume that the area is densely populated. Most people work in Boston for private companies or non-profit organizations.
Furthermore, 67 percent of the population within the Back Bay/Fenway-Kenmore area is White/Non-Hispanic, 15 percent is Asian, 13 percent is Hispanic/Latino, and 9 percent is Black/African American. Ancestry of residents is varied. There are traces of people from across the globe, and this influence can be seen in the variety of restaurants and attractions throughout the Back Bay area.
Before Back Bay West was a part of Back Bay or even land, it was underwater. The land became buildable during the 19th century that transformed the space between the Shawmut Peninsula, Cambridge, and along the Charles River. At the start, a dam was constructed in 1814, but it wasn’t a success and needed to be filled in. By the end of the land reclamation project, the size of the Shawmut Peninsula had doubled.
In 1910, the Charles River Dam was constructed, creating a freshwater basin. From there, the Charles River Esplanade was built so that residents could enjoy the lagoon.
Back Bay has five main corridors running from east to west, including Commonwealth Avenue, Marlborough Street, Beacon Street, Newbury Street, and Boylston Street. Commonwealth Avenue is one of the more famous streets because of its design. Frederick Law Olmstead designed the avenue to connect with his Emerald Necklace system.
Charlesgate Park is located between Back Bay West and Fenway-Kenmore neighborhoods. It is another one of Frank Law Olmstead’s creations and served as the beginning of the Emerald Necklace. These days, it is a link between the Charles River Esplanade, the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, and the Emerald Necklace. Tours are routinely given, so check out the official website: Charles Gate Tour.
Like Back Bay East, the western side of Back Bay has rows of stunning Victorian houses that are considered some of the best examples of 19th-century urban architecture in the entire nation. Walking the streets will transport you back in time temporarily—until you reach the commercial center along Boylston Street and nearby public alleys, that is. When visiting, take some time to see Charlesgate Park, with all its beautiful scenery. There is a statue of Lief Erickson located on the Back Bay Westside that may be of interest to those who enjoy history.
Hungry? There are several high-rated restaurants to try. The most expensive would be Deuxave, a French and American restaurant and bar with a fireplace. For a more casual evening, Corner Tavern, Dillon’s, or Sonsie is the place to go.
There is a route through Back Bay West that is part of the Women’s Heritage Trail called the Back Bay West Walk. The route begins at Copley Square and ends at the Women’s Memorial. It takes about 1.5 hours to complete but will give you some great exercise along with a chance to learn more about famous Boston ladies. Though many of the sites are also within Back Bay East, there are eight points within Back Bay West: The Copley Society of Art, the Guild of Boston Artists, Society of Arts and Crafts, the Massachusetts Normal Art School Site, Spiritualist Temple and Exeter Street Theater, Fanny Mason and Peabody Mason Music Foundation, Women Sculptors in the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, and the Boston Women’s Memorial.
While the Prudential Center and the Skywalk Observatory is not counted as part of Back Bay West, it is another famous attraction within the are that don’t want to miss. That aside, wherever you go around Back Bay, you are bound to find something of interest!
Perhaps you’re a busy Back Bay West parent, trying to juggle the kids’ dance recitals and soccer practice on top of vacuuming and doing the dishes at home. Or maybe you’re a business professional or CEO who doesn’t have the time to deal with dust and dirt when you return home from a long day at work. Or possibly you may have a disabled relative or elderly parent who could use a helping hand around the house.
When you’re searching for a dependable home cleaner in Back Bay West don’t look any further. You can rest easy by choosing Patriot Maids to refer the very best house cleaner for your family.
