BRAINTREE’S MOST TRUSTED HOUSE CLEANING REFERRAL AGENCY

Looking for a tranquil location for a family outing or for spending time out in nature? Why not head to the scenic and peaceful town of Braintree? South of Boston, Braintree is a small and refreshing atmosphere, surrounding by idyllic hills, rivers, and historical sites. The bright, cheerful, and amicable community welcomes you for all their events that take place throughout the year.

Meet The People and Where To Go In Braintree

According to the 2014 census, there were 37, 362 people living in Braintree—a 4.5 percent increase from 2010, when 35,744 people were recorded as residents in the town. As of 2000, there were close to 13,000 households in Braintree, and most of those households, about 9,000, belonged to families. Braintree is relatively dense, with most houses and businesses clustered around the main streets of Pearl and Washington, but this creates a quaint suburban feel.

Most of the population in Braintree is Caucasian, with most residents coming from Irish descent, but there are also African-Americans, Native Americans, Asians, and Hispanics dwelling in the area. In fact, as of 2014, Braintree had the 2nd highest population of Irish Americans in the entire United States.

Braintree has dozens of shopping plazas, boutique stores, eateries, historical and natural points of interest and entertainment venues. Since it is situated near other historical regions, it is a popular place for day trips, especially for people who are headed towards Boston or visiting Quincy.

The town also has an expansive educational system that includes one kindergarten, six elementary schools situated in the six main districts, two middle schools (East and South), and one large high school, Braintree High. There are also alternative and private educational institutions, including the internationally renowned CATS Academy, which has campuses in the UK as well.

If you do not want to drive to Braintree, you can always take the commuter rail service to and from South Station in Boston or use the CapeFLYER rail.

The Rich History of Braintree

Like many places in Massachusetts, Braintree was established by English settlers in 1625 and later colonized in 1635. In 1640, it was finally given the name Braintree. Later, Braintree’s land was split into other regions, like Holbrook, Quincy, and Randolph. Until the founding of Norfolk County in 1793, Braintree was a part of Suffolk County.

Braintree is the hometown of many famous historical figures, such as John Adams, John Hancock, and John Quincy Adams. The “Father of West Point,” General Sylvanus Thayer, was born in Braintree as well, in a part of the town currently called Braintree Highlands. More current celebrities hailing from Braintree include Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, Priscilla Chan (Mark Zuckerberg’s wife), and William Rosenberg, the man who created Dunkin’ Donuts.

In 1920, Braintree was put on the map for less than pleasant reasons, for it was the site of murders leading to the Sacco and Vanzetti trails.

Braintree was also where the co-inventor of the modern day telephone, Thomas A. Watson, retired.

Pushing towards the present, in January 2008, Braintree altered its local government style from representative town meetings to a mayor-council government style, with council members who are elected by the people.
