SMALL DETAILS MAKE A DIFFERENCE…
Revere referral home cleaners adhere to the highest quality cleaning standards.
That alone makes a huge difference.
The name Revere might be familiar to most Americans, for it is the last name of Paul Revere, the American Revolutionary patriot who made that famous ride, shouting, “The British are coming!” The city of Revere, MA was named after that man and has become a beloved home too many. Bordering other popular places like Chelsea, Winthrop, East Boston, and the Atlantic Ocean, Revere is a bustling and dynamic place full of things to do and people to meet.
Why not check out everything Revere has to offer?
Revere has grown throughout the years, due to its placement near Boston and the ocean. According to estimates made by the 2018 census, around 54,000 people are dwelling in the city, and the population is very diverse. About 63% of the population is of European descent, followed by a large Hispanic and Latino population (25%), Blacks (5%), and Asians (5.6%). Interestingly, Revere is also home to one of the highest percentages of Brazilian immigrants in the United States, with 1.7% of the population being from Brazil.
There are close to 20,000 occupied households in the city, where about 12,000 families live. 25% of those 20,000 households have children under the age of 18. The median income for families is around $46,000.
Serving the children of the area is the Revere Public School system. There are both public and private institutions, and many students also attend the local charter schools. Upon reaching high school, students may choose between Revere High School, Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School, or the Seacoast School, depending on their interests.
Before the 1630s, the land around Revere belonged to the Pawtucket tribe of Native Americans. Gradually, with English settlement, the tribes around the area were forced out. In 1624, Samuel Maverick was the first settler to build a house at the site of a former naval hospital on Admiral’s Hill. In 1634, Rumney Marsh (as Revere was originally called) was annexed by Boston. Around 1639, a placed called Rumney Marsh was given to twenty-one of Boston’s most well-to-do and affluent citizens.
In 1775, Rumney Marsh became the site of the first naval battle in the American Revolutionary War. During this time, Paul Revere set out on his ride to alert the region of the pending attack from the British.
In March 1871, a petition spread throughout the region with the request that Rumney Mill, then called North Chelsea, could have the name changed to the Town of Revere to honor Paul Revere (1735-1818). Revere had gained much popularity for his deeds but also after the published poem “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. In 1914, the town finally became Revere.
Also in 1871, the Great Revere Train Wreck occurred. It was the deadliest incident in the history of the state, involving the Portland Express. The train slammed into the backside of a local commuter at the main station.
In 2016, Mayor Arrigo agreed to become a sister city with Date, Fukushima, Japan.
There are mainly places of interest in Revere that you can visit and enjoy. Beach-goers should head to Revere Beach, the oldest public beach in the country.
Revere also has eight locations on the National Register of Historic Places:
Interested in some grub? Head to the local favorite, Kelly’s Roast Beef, where you can indulge in a hearty sandwich. The recipe hasn’t changed since the restaurant opened in 1951. Nearby is a longstanding ice cream parlor, Kell’s Kreme, to top off your meal the right way.
Do you love the great outdoors? Check out the Sea Plane Basin up north and the Rumney Marsh Reservation, two places with lots of green and beautiful natural sights to behold.
Revere has many exciting events planned for locals and visitors, like multicultural events, exercise classes, concerts, and more. Interested in joining one of the many events that go in Revere, head over to the official website (www.revere.org) for more information and an event calendar.
Whether you are looking for history or a peaceful day at the beach, Revere is a great place to visit and make memories.
