One of the most recent spots in Boston is often getting a lot of deserved attention. That’s right, we’re talking about the Seaport district. Over the past couple of years, development in this new district has exploded, and you will see restaurants, bars, apartments, condos, and shopping popping up by the second. The oceanfront location is just another perk. If you are in Boston, Seaport is a fantastic place to discover the skyline, museums, concerts, and much more.
Let’s have a look at all Seaport has to offer.
Seaport District is also known as “the Seaport,” and is considered a neighborhood of South Boston. The district is bordered by Boston Harbor, South Boston, and the Fort Point Channel. Because of this, Seaport is often referenced when someone is talking about the famous Boston waterfront.
There are several apartments and condominiums around the South Boston Waterfront, each overlooking the city and the harbor. Rent around Seaport is high—and continues to increase. According to research done by the Boston Globe, a two-bedroom apartment in the district costs over $5,000 a month!
This is partially due to the exodus of business headquarters into the district, the waterfront property, and other perks. For example, GE, Reebok, and other enterprises relocated from other places around Massachusetts to Seaport in 2016. Nightlife has also been flourishing, making Seaport more than just residences and businesses. It has entertainment, too.
Other places in the Seaport district include the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on D Street. It was built in 2004. On Commonwealth Pier, you can find the prestigious Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center. Recently the Institute of Contemporary Art also relocated to Northern Avenue, right on the Boston Harbor.
The Seaport is one of the most ambitious developments within Boston throughout the 21st century. In 2014, Seaport was even called “the hottest, fastest-growing real estate” in the whole country. In 2017, the district was still picking up momentum—growing quickly and delivering a tremendous economic boost to the whole of Boston.
However, the history of Seaport starts before that. 100-year-old warehouses that had gone on in disrepair caught the attention of architects and investors during the Big Dig, a $14.6 billion project that brought the old I-93 interstate down and extended public transportation into this region. An entirely new network of public transportation was introduced first, such as a new Silver Line stop, the Boston Harborwalk, and even a connection to the Evelyn Moakley Bridge.
Then, in 2010, the governor announced that the waterfront would be restructured into an Innovation District—a hub of Information Age jobs and clean technology. Between 2010 and 2017, the construction of Seaport brought in 5,000 new jobs, and more than 200 new companies started up. By the end of 2017, Seaport had a total of 8 hotels, 78 restaurants, and over 1,100 housing units.
Seaport is a brand new addition to Boston, and it just keeps getting better day-by-day. Whether you are visiting Boston on business or have come to see all the capital of Massachusetts has to offer, then a trip to Seaport is definitely in order. You certainly won’t be bored in this district.
First, if you love a good show, then you need to see a concert or two at the fabulous Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. Known as one of the best places to see live music, the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion has 5,000 seats and brings in some of the biggest names from May to September annually.
Perhaps you want a more relaxing and luxurious stay in Boston or want a romantic evening viewing the skyline. Then you need to check out the rooftop bars in Seaport. The Lookout Rooftop and Bar at the Envoy Hotel and the Sky Lounge at YOTEL Boston give you access to fresh air, great drinks, and incredible views. You should also check out the Legal Harborside because there is an open bar on the third floor of the building.
Want to work up a sweat after drinking and partying? Then you will enjoy this: free outdoor workouts from May to October. The program Seaport Sweat offers classes Monday through Saturday around Seaport Common. Be sure to register ahead on the official Seaport Sweat site. Classes fill up in a blink.
If group classes aren’t your thing, you can still get some exercise and learn more about Boston along the 43-mile long Boston Harborwalk. The Harborwalk is extensive, connecting Fort Point, Seaport, South Boston, North Boston, and other places. There is also beach access along the path, restaurants, shopping, and much more to discover.
There is so much more to see and do in Seaport, almost too much to list! That means you are going to have to visit and see what is available for yourself. What will you discover?
Perhaps you’re a busy Seaport parent, trying to juggle the kids’ dance recitals and soccer practice on top of vacuuming and doing the dishes at home. Or maybe you’re a business professional or CEO who doesn’t have the time to deal with dust and dirt when you return home from a long day at work. Or possibly you may have a disabled relative or elderly parent who could use a helping hand around the house.
When you’re searching for a dependable home cleaner in Seaport don’t look any further. You can rest easy by choosing Patriot Maids to refer the very best house cleaner for your family. All house cleaners are background checked, come with 2 to 3 years’ experience, and fully equipped to handle any cleaning task. You can arrive at home knowing that your house has been cleaned by a qualified team of professionals and will shine from top to bottom.
Patriot Maids is Seaport’s premier maid referral agency. Whether you’re looking for a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or just a one-time deep clean, we make sure you’re able to have the same referred cleaner every single time. They’ll even remember your pets’ names!
Founded in 2018, Patriot Maids is a locally owned and operated cleaning referral agency in Seaport, Boston, Massachusetts that functions as a matchmaker between clients and house cleaning services. We offer customizable residential home cleaning service referrals in Boston and surrounding areas. Referral agencies reduce costs for customers while raising the income of workers by sending jobs to independent cleaners who register under contract.
The independent cleaning professionals work to their own schedule, utilize their own acquired knowledge to complete jobs, and provide their own transportation. Depending on the needs of the customer, supplies, and equipment are provided by either the customer or the worker. The workers offer professional cleaning services, as requested by the customer, at the lowest possible cost.
